Yes, Radix really is free for personal use. Radix is an excellent application for an individual, but it's power and value really shines in a multi-user environment. People love free stuff, and what better advertisement is there than a recommendation from an actual user.

What is the difference between the "trial" version of Radix that I download and the "real" version that I pay for?

None. Absolutely none. There are no disabled features in the the version you download. You can evaluate Radix for 45 days with as many users as you want. After that 45 day period expires you may still use Radix for free, but if you have more than one user defined you will be reminded (when you log in) that you should purchase additional licenses.
